Polymnia Bouza
I am a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, supporting adults experiencing depression, anxiety disorders, and PTSD. My approach combines evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with a deeper focus on personal values, meaning-making, and mindfulness. Together, we can explore unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour that may be maintaining your difficulties and identify practical ways to create lasting and meaningful change.
Our sessions provide a space to reflect on your experiences while exploring how to translate insights into everyday life. CBT is valuable not only for developing awareness of your difficulties and the factors that may be maintaining them, but also for helping to bridge the gap between awareness and change. Lasting change occurs when intellectual understanding is accompanied by lived emotional experience. Therefore, we will work collaboratively to integrate insights gained in therapy into everyday life.
My work is also informed by existential philosophy and psychotherapy, recognising that many psychological struggles are intertwined with questions of meaning, purpose, identity, freedom, and responsibility, as well as how we choose to engage with the world. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, low mood, trauma, or a sense of feeling stuck, therapy can help you develop a clearer understanding of yourself and move towards a life that is more aligned with your values.
